Lucie Update- Mar 14, 2015

Happy Pi Day from our Lucie Pie! :)

Lucie is having a very wonderful Saturday, and hopes that you are too!  After a delicious brunch with our lovely friends Mark and Alli and their sweet little Ivy, who has hooked Lucie up with some seriously "preemie"um swag, we went to the NICU to see our Lucie-Lyn.  She had a few sweet visits today from Jessica, Eric and Haley.  Before we went to see her, Liz, her nurse this morning, sent us a picture of Lucie without any "accessories" or tubes connected, because she was having her feeding tube replaced.  Check out the picture below!

When we got there, we noticed she had a much thinner, clear set of nasal prongs in her nose.  Liz explained that she had graduated to "Low Flow" respiratory support!  What does that even mean!?  She just started High Flow!!  So what is Low Flow?  It refers to the use of flow rates of less than or equal to 1 L/minute.  Remember on high flow she had a rate of 4L/ minute.  Woohoo, and thank you Lord!!  It truly is amazing for us to witness her progress.  Sometimes it is hard to describe just how miraculous this has been.

As we were getting ready to leave the Charge Nurse came up to us an let us know that since Lucille is now considered THE MOST STABLE BABY IN HER UNIT, she will be moved to an extension room down the hall from the main area of the NICU.  WOW!!!  We'll see her in her new area tomorrow and I'm sure it will feel really different to be in a small room with three other babies, instead of the huge area with 20+ babies, nurses and commotion all around.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support, we are so grateful.  We are so thankful that the Lord has surrounded us with so many amazing people who have never ceased to care for our little family through this journey.

With love,

Los Hicksons
