Size 3. My daughter is officially ready for size 3 diapers... Size. Three. Are you kidding?! Somehow I never really thought this day would come. I remember sitting in the hospital and hearing people mention they could give us some diapers, however they were size 3. This was while she was in premie diapers, not even size one, not even newborn. Since then I've always imagined a size 3 diaper as some far off number that other babies would get to, but not Lucie. This also because to me, as Papa Bear, I feel like Lucie-Pie is always going to be my little baby. Well, just like that, once Lucie finishes the box of diapers she is on, she will be wearing SIZE... wait for it.... THREEEEEEEE! Still taking it all in.
I can hear the replies coming in already, and you're totally right, I know she's growing and am beyond thankful for all the ways God has wonderfully and gently helped the Goose dodge and maneuver each danger zone, pot hole, falling rock of disaster that could have (and probably should have) gone wrong while in the NICU and beyond. Today, she's doing great and thriving, but she is still working her way out of the woods, so everything that happens comes with a huge sense of awe, wonder, thankfulness and relief. Just yesterday, her Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist said, practically in unison: "Well, you can cross Autism off the list".... (Uhhh, can we see this list? What else needs to be crossed off?! Maybe it's better not to see it...) A couple of months ago they also ruled out CP (Cerebral Palsy). AMAZING. We are so thankful for the many blessings and miracles we have seen ALREADY in Lucie's 14 month life.
Lucie is quite the Magellan! She's climbing (onto tables as you've seen), cruising along the couches, pushing our chairs, crawling the many obstacle courses under our tables and desks, and finding that next interesting object to... put in her mouth. My heart is just so full and at the same time beautifully breaking as I watch our little girl grow up... and it's so fast. She is even saying "da-DA"! There's a nice Latin flair to it I think, don't you? Thank you all, as always, for your prayers and support. We are glad to have you on this crazy journey of parenthood with us.
Enjoy the photos, yes there are a lot.
