Lucie Update- Mar 23, 2015

Hi friends and fam,

We're so grateful that Lucille is continuing to do well.  The other day a nurse that we've seen many times but have never actually met came in to tell us how well she thought Lucie was doing. She was so encouraging, and told us it has been so fantastic to see Lucie thriving, especially knowing that she was a 24-week micro preemie.  It's amazing to think about it, I mean looking at her now, it's just incredible! Last night she weighed 2,925 grams or 6lbs 7.2oz.  Tonight she gained more weight and is now 2,985 grams or 6lbs 9.3oz!!  She had an eye exam today and thankfully her eyes are healthy and developing normally.  She'll have another follow up in three weeks, and they let us know that when that time comes she might be home already! Eeek! So exciting :)!  Even though we know that is coming up, we're still trying to take it one day at a time!

Lucie pie has been taking more of her bottles in their entirety too, which is fantastic! She needs to keep practicing and needs to get to the point where she can take all of her feeds without getting tired or worn out.  She measured 47cm long, or 18.5 inches and her head circumference was 33cm. She's getting there, little by little :).

As we tucked her in and said good night, we were able to take her nasal prongs out to give her a break for the next couple of hours. When she does have them in, she's still at a rate of 0.0125 L/ minute.

Just a heads up, we'll be having a late night tomorrow so we won't be posting an update.  We'll keep you posted the next day though, in the mean time, have a wonderful evening!

Love,

Drea, Rob, Lucie Pie & Bess
